Booking now open for ABRSM’s 2017 Teacher Conference

From today (16 August), music teachers can book to attend ABRSM’s 2017 Teacher Conference taking place on 4 November 2017 at London’s Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. Guests attending the full-day conference will have over 16 sessions to choose from on a range of subjects.

With a focus on ABRSM’s new Flute, Clarinet and Singing syllabuses, the conference will offer thought-provoking ideas to introduce inspiring new repertoire and digital resources for classroom, group and one-to-one lessons.

Other highlights include sessions on:

  • Performing skills and programme planning
  • Developing core musical skills in the early years
  • Teaching students with disabilities and specific needs

Presenters include ABRSM’s Chief Examiner John Holmes, who together with Paul Harris will explore the new clarinet syllabus. John will also share ideas on how to approach assessment in instrumental lessons and the classroom, as well as the exam room. Creative teaching ideas and pathways to approach ABRSM’s new flute and singing syllabuses will be presented by Zoe Booth and Heidi Pegler; and Anthony Williams will look at ways to perfect performing skills.

John Holmes, Chief Examiner says: “We’re looking forward eagerly to this year’s Teacher Conference, which will have an overarching theme of ‘Continuity and Change’. Along with sessions focusing on our new woodwind and singing syllabuses, others will explore how to develop core musical skills in the early years, teaching students with disabilities and specific needs, and effective programme planning for the ARSM Diploma and beyond.”

One delegate from last year’s conference said: “I really enjoyed it. The quality of CPD delivered was excellent! It was extremely informative and relevant. There was a real sense of community and that we’re in it together.”

Attendance at the event costs just £80 per delegate, including refreshments and lunch. A full conference programme and booking facility can be found at For further information, please email [email protected].
