Free CPD training and networking opportunity for instrumental music instructors in Edinburgh

Saturday 28 April 2018
9.30am–4.30pm
Venue: Fettes College, East Fettes Ave, Edinburgh EH4 1QX

Join ABRSM's chief examiner, examiners and staff for a day of free CPD training and networking tailored for instrumental music instructors.

This is a great opportunity for music instructors to network with each other and ABRSM, try our new digital products, hear about our recent developments and take part in valuable CPD training. We'll also hold an open-floor Q&A session where you can ask us anything.

Sessions for everyone

ABRSM Chief Examiner, John Holmes, will outline the principles behind effective assessment. Using recorded examples, he'll explain how examiners apply the ABRSM marking criteria to assess the various sections of an exam.

This session will look into understanding the way ABRSM exams are assessed, providing helpful insights into the aspects of musical performance that you and your students need to consider. It will also explain how the principles of assessment can be applied in other evaluative contexts like instrumental lessons and classroom teaching, exploring ideas for lesson planning, practice planning and student assessment.

Sessions in the afternoon will introduce our new ARSM diploma-level performance exam and also look into developing performing skills. An open-floor Q&A session will take place, giving you the opportunity to ask us anything. ABRSM examiners and staff will create the panel to answer your questions.
