How to book

Exams take place at Public Venues provided by us or at Private Visits at an approved venue provided by the applicant/Visit Organiser. We have separate arrangements in place for Public Venue Jazz exams at our ABRSM Jazz Visits.Click on the relevant tab below for more information about how to book exams.

We can now accept bookings for practical Private Visits in the UK. Before booking, please read the important updates to our Private Visit Venue Guidance and Terms and Conditions, available on our Private Visits page. We can offer Private Visits for practical exams at all grades, ARSM, Prep Test and Performance Assessment. This includes Organ, Harpsichord and Percussion exams. We are unable to offer Choral Singing, Ensemble or Diploma (DipABRSM, LRSM or FRSM) exams.

Who can book an exam?

Anyone aged 18 or over can book exams on behalf of candidates. This could be a teacher, parent/carer or member of staff at a school, music service or other organisation. Candidates aged 18 and over can book their own exams. The person who books the exam is known as the applicant.

Ways to book

We have a new online booking service for graded exams (practical and Music Theory), ARSM, Prep Test and Performance Assessment. We are unable to accept postal bookings for these assessments.

For DipABRSM, LRSM and FRSM diplomas, and Choral Singing and Ensembles exams, you will need to book by post. You can download entry forms here.
